Radiolocation means detection of different objects (targets) with usage of electromagnetic modes, detection of their coordinates and parameters of motion.

Radar Stations are used aiming to detect air, sea and on land objects, and also for detection of distance, speed and geometric parameters. The basic construction of the RS consists of three components: transmitter, antenna and receiver.

o our opinion the spot-targeted antennas of waterside Radar Stations are nowadays one of the most interesting products among other radio engineering products of Ukraine, due to application of contemporary achievements of radio engineering, measurement of antenna devices.

Long structures (3 – 6 m) which has been developed in the beginning of last decade significantly surpass European products, being much cheaper at the same time. They are manufactured during more than 10 years in different modifications depending on the frequency range and other parameters of azimuth directional patterns.

Assembly of manufactured antenna devices may include rotation unit, which consist of high frequency unit, reduction gear, detector of the angle turn, rotation speed regulator.

Upon customer’s request, the antennas may be assembled with ancillary devices (transmitter, receiver, indicator, data processors) on turn-key conditions.

 

Antenna is manufactured in two modifications which differ by direction diagram in vertical plane:

  • Symmetric direction;
  • Cosecants direction.

At insignificant decrease of amplification forward to horizon (approx 1 dB) being compared with symmetric direction, the cosecant direction has wider 12° до 14° basic beam and increased level for amplification level for angles below horizon. In case of increase of cosecant direction the parameters are the following 8-10 dB for angles 15°…35°.

 

Application of antennas with cosecant direction allows:

  • achieve constant reflected signal during motion of the object from the horizon to the place of location of the antenna;
  • avoid loosing of small objects on the radar screen, which are located nearby the antenna.
